At Savvy Bike, we believe cycling should feel empowering, enjoyable, and sustainable for every rider. Our mission is to help cyclists ride smarter, safer, and more confidently—whether they’re just getting started or refining a lifelong passion.
Founded by Lorri Lee Lown, an experienced coach, educator, and bike fit specialist, Savvy Bike was built on the idea that the right fit, the right skills, and the right support can transform the way people experience their bikes. We specialize in expert bike fitting, skill development, and personalized coaching that meets riders where they are and helps them progress with purpose.
More than a service, Savvy Bike is a community. We are committed to education, inclusivity, and lifelong learning, creating an environment where riders feel supported, capable, and inspired. From road to trail to track, we help cyclists move with confidence, efficiency, and joy—so every ride feels like your best day on the bike ever!

Coach Lorri Lee Lown, has been active in the northern California cycling community for close to three decades. In addition to founding Velo Girls, she has been an active leader with USA Cycling (USAC), the Northern California Nevada Cycling Association (NCNCA), the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC), and the Norcal High School Cycling League. She has coached camps and clinics throughout California and in Mallorca, has been a guest coach for AthletiCamps and the Specialized Women's Sports Camp and was the women's outreach coordinator for Sea Otter Classic.
As an athlete, Lorri has raced road, mountain, track, cyclocross, gravel, Paralympic track tandem, and duathlon. She's also competed in road and trail running events, winning her age group at distances including 5K, 10K, and half marathon. She's raced some of the biggest gravel bike races in the United States, including Rebecca's Private Idaho, Croatan Buck Fifty, Dirty Kitten, The Last Best Ride, Lost and Found, Truckee Tahoe, and USA Cycling Gravel National Championships. She's participated in countless endurance and ultra-endurance events, including AIDS/Lifecycle, Furnace Creek 508, HooDoo 500, and Silver State 508.

Coach Bob Ward has ridden a bicycle for most of his life. He began coaching in 1983, working with the UC Berkeley Cycling Team and serving as mentor and coach for numerous local clubs and teams. He's been coaching with Savvy Bike for more than a decade and you'll most often see him at our Climbing + Descending clinics. In addition to coaching with Savvy Bike, Bob also coaches with the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) and Bicycle Solutions. He is a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) with the League of American Bicyclists. He enjoys helping beginner riders “get it” and develop the self-confidence & skills to take their riding to the next level.
Bob has raced in almost all disciplines of the sport, including track, road racing, mountain bike racing and triathlon. He was a competitive category 2 rider on road and track throughout the 1980s with some good results in major events such as the Tour of Redlands & Tour of Willamette. On the velodrome he was district champion in the senior mens 40K points race, lapping the field twice.
